As a distance learner, Cyber Security is essential for protecting your documents, contacts and other private information. Here are a few tips that you can implement to make sure that your personal information is safe:
Have a Strong Password. Creating strong, unique, and secure passwords for your various accounts will help to prevent hackers from getting into these accounts. We also recommend that you change all of your passwords every few months. Click here for information on how to change your password in SIS.
Be Cautious of Links and Attachments. Always read the sender’s email address before clicking any links in an email, this can help determine if the email is legitimate. If the email looks suspicious, report it to Vista Virtual School Tech Support.
Use Two-Factor Authentication. Two-factor authentication serves as an additional layer of security as it alerts you if someone is trying to sign into your accounts.
Update Your Devices Regularly. The latest program features, including security updates, will not be available on out of date devices and software. You will also not be able to troubleshoot errors.
Back-Up Your Data Regularly. Remember that paper that you worked so hard on? Make sure you have a back-up copy of it! Devices are mostly reliable, however you should be prepared in the event something goes wrong.
Delete Old Files. Open up space on your devices by getting rid of items you no longer need.
