Summer Internships with CAREERS: The Next Generation

What are your summer plans? Have you thought about a paid internship in a skilled trade? CAREERS: The Next Generation is currently seeking applications from high school students interested in trades careers for its 2021 summer internships.

CAREERS: The Next Generation works in partnership with schools and employers across Alberta to find students paid internships that also earn high school credits towards graduation. CAREERS internships are a great way to “test drive” a potential career in a wide range of industries while getting paid AND earning credits. You can find out more about this opportunity and apply for an internship here.

Like the idea but are unsure what trade to pursue? The CAREERS website has online resources that might answer that question, including a trades matching quiz that assesses your aptitudes and interests and a career exploration quiz that offers suggestions as to what type of career path would suit your personality. You can also read testimonials from other high school students who have pursued CAREERS internships here.

For those interested in a taste of what CAREERS has to offer, there are several free virtual career showcases coming up. On Tuesday, May 18 CAREERS will be holding the latest of its Young Women In Trades & Technology (YWITT) mentorship events while students in southern Alberta are invited to join the upcoming U21 Southern Alberta Virtual Information Session (co-hosted by Calgary-based Borea Construction) on Tuesday, May 25.

Visit the CAREERS: The Next Generation for more information on internships, or follow them on Twitter and Facebook for updates.
