Update on Vista Virtual School Programs

Hello students, parents and families.

We hope you are remaining healthy and safe. This has been a stressful time for everyone and we want you to know how concerned we are with your ongoing safety.

We are committed to keeping you informed. Unfortunately, we have not received any new information from Alberta Education at this time.

Most importantly, Vista Virtual School remains operational for students to continue their course work. While campuses are closed, teachers are responding to emails and phone calls to help students continue to proceed through courses. Assignments are being marked and returned. In many ways, courses continue as normal, whatever normal might be these days!

While we wait for clear direction regarding exams we would like to gather information. Please contact your teacher if:

  • The student is registered for April Diploma Exams
  • The student requires the next level of the current course they are finishing in order to graduate before the end of June

In all other non-urgent cases we recommend waiting until there is a direction from Alberta Education. To be clear, we do not know at this point if exams will be exempted.

Additionally, we know many of you are concerned about registering for new courses. As long as you submitted a registration with Vista Virtual School this school year (since September 1, 2019) you can email the school at vvsupport@pembinahills.ca to request additional courses. We will review your current course load (eg: have you submitted all your assignments and all we have left are exams) and let you know if we can add more courses.

We know how stressful this can be on students. We are not making these recommendations to students lightly; as we get more information we will share it with you as quickly as we can through our website, social media and emails.

If you have any questions, please contact the school at vvsupport@pembinahills.ca
