Shane Andersen

Hello, my name is Shane Andersen and I teach Science 30, Biology 30, Science 20, Science 14, and Science 24.

Vista Virtual School is incredibly supportive of students that require flexibility to achieve success. I love the fact that when a student is having trouble with a concept, I can spend as much time as is necessary for that student to acquire the skills they need to move on to the next concept.

I am an avid traveller and athlete having visited and often competed in over 40 countries. I have won cross country and road races ranging in distance from 1500 meters to a half marathon in Alberta, B.C., Ontario, Minnesota, California, Nevada, Utah, Texas, Maine, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Germany, England, Switzerland, and Spain.

Prior to becoming a teacher at Vista Virtual School, I was the Coordinator of Assessment at Alberta Distance Learning Center and an Examiner with the Learner Assessment Branch – the government body that writes the Physics 30, Biology 30, Chemistry 30, and Science 30 Diploma Exams. I have also spent a lot of time on standard setting and item writing teams in both the public and private sectors.
