World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day is observed every year on October 10 to raise awareness about mental health issues and promote mental well-being. This year’s theme is “Mental health is a universal human right”, which is a wonderful reminder that mental health is essential for everyone, not just those struggling with mental illness.

If you or someone you know is struggling, there are numerous resources available to help. We have created a list of helpful resources on our website that you can view here. Some resources include the Mental Health Helpline at 1-877-303-2642, the Kids Help Phone at 1-800-668-6868, and an article about how to help a friend in need. Should you have any questions about these resources, please reach out to Andrea Robin at andrea.robin@pembinahills.ca. Note: if you or someone you know is having an emergency, please dial 911.

In addition, mental health apps like Headspace and Calm offer guided meditations and mindfulness exercises to help manage stress and anxiety. Online therapy platforms like BetterHelp and Talkspace provide access to licensed therapists from the comfort of your own home.

Remember, taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. Let’s work towards creating a world where mental health is valued and accessible to all.
