Our registration forms and inquiries are handled by real people who personally review every submission. Because of this, it may take a little longer to respond during peak registration periods, and we sincerely thank you for your patience.

Am I Eligible for Registration?

Note: VVS is not currently accepting Grade 10-12 & Adult Upgrading registrations.

HOW TO REGISTER

Parents, legal guardians, students (if 18+ or independent), and ESA super users register students through a Pembina Hills School Division (PHSD) SchoolEngage account. If you’re already with PHSD or Vista Virtual School (VVS), you can register through the PHSD PowerSchool Parent Portal.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

1. Do you have a PHSD/VVS SchoolEngage account?
↪ The account must belong to a PARENT or LEGAL GUARDIAN, unless the student is 18+ or living independently.

⚠️ Do not create a new account if a parent or student was previously set up. If you need to update an existing SchoolEngage account, link a new account to a returning student, or transition an 18+ student from a parent account to their own, please contact us for assistance.

2. Add a student or select an existing student.

  • If you have more than one student, you can add them all to the same account.
  • Make sure you don’t add the same person twice!

3. Fill out the registration form for your student type.
 Refer to Completing the Student Registration Form for detailed instructions.

If you do not see the appropriate form, registration for your student type may not be available. Please refer to our Registration Dates for details.

4. Pick your courses.

  • Make sure you have met any prerequisite course mark requirements.
  • Confirm you are not registered or applied for the same course at another school.

5. Pick your materials.
↪  This includes required textbooks, novels, and other resources not in the online course.

  • Decide if you want to get your materials from VVS or find them yourself.
  • Choose how you want to get any VVS materials (pickup or mail).

6. Wait for review and processing.

  • All registration forms are subject to a review process.
  • Processing may take up to 10 school days.
  • You will receive email updates at each step, and a confirmation email once complete.

7. Make payment, if required.

  • If there are fees owing, you will be asked to make payment within 72 hours of approval.
  • Paying quickly gets you course access and materials faster.

8. Does the student already have a VVS Moodle account?
↪  Moodle is where students access online course content.

  • ✔️ Yes – Login to Moodle using existing student credentials. Reset Moodle credentials if needed. 
  • ❌ No – Login credentials will be emailed to the student.

9. Get your materials, if ordered.

  • Mail: If you chose shipping, check your email for a tracking number.
  • Pickup: If you chose to pick up in Calgary, check your email to book a time.

Students enrolled after the semester start date must still finish by the end date. As courses are asynchronous, students can start later and still complete within the semester timeframe. Students should review their specific course timelines and consult their teacher if they have any concerns.

How do I make a change to my SchoolEngage account?

  • If you require changes to an existing SchoolEngage account, or need a new SchoolEngage account for an existing student, email us at vvsupport@pembinahills.ca.
  • Please do not create another SchoolEngage account if one has already been set up, or add a student who already exists.
  • If you’re 18+ and want to transition from a parent-managed account to your own, please contact us so that we can assist you!

How do I make a change on my registration form?

  • If you need to make a change to a registration form that you have already submitted, please reach out to us at vvsupport@pembinahills.ca for assistance.
  • Please do not create a new SchoolEngage account or submit another registration form.

Can I register after the semester start date? 

  • Yes, but you will have less time in the course, as all students must complete their coursework by the semester’s end date.
  • If a student registers late, we recommend that they speak with their teacher regarding their timeline and how they can catch up in the course.

What is the status of my application?

  • Log in to SchoolEngage, click the student’s name, and follow the Navigating SchoolEngage guide to see what each registration form Status means.
  • Updates will also be emailed to the SchoolEngage account holder. Please check your email often and reply when needed.

When will I get access to my course content?

  • During peak periods, please allow up to three weeks for your registration to be processed. Once your application is approved and payment is received, your enrollment will be finalized.
  • If you’re enrolled before the semester begins, your courses will appear in Moodle on the first day of the semester. If you’re enrolled on or after the semester start date, your courses will be available in Moodle within 24 hours of enrollment.

How do I add, switch or withdraw from my courses?

  • If your registration form hasn’t been processed yet, please email vvsupport@pembinahills.ca with your request.
  • If you want change your courses after you are enrolled, log-in to SchoolEngage. Click on your student’s name and complete the available Course Addition/Switch/Withdrawal Form.
  • NOTE: Changes to submitted course and material requests may result in a later course start date and less time to complete the course by the semester deadline. A $25 course switch fee applies to each course switch (add and withdraw) made after enrollment.
