Summer School – International
Vista Virtual School is excited to offer a summer semester for international students! Embrace the opportunity to elevate your education during the vibrant months of summer. Our specially designed courses are condensed to perfectly fit the summer term while upholding Alberta Education’s standards.
All VVS courses are asynchronous which means that students do not attend a class at a specific time, rather they complete their assignments according to the schedule outlined by their course teachers. This allows students to work at their own pace and around other commitments, while also having an outline to help them stay organized and motivated.
Our summer term is suitable for students wanting to upgrade course marks, catch up on missed courses or earn extra high school credits and create room in next year’s schedule!
WHO CAN ENROLL IN THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SUMMER TERM?
- Students who ordinarily live outside of Alberta
- Students living in Alberta without Canadian citizenship
- Students studying at Alberta Accredited International Schools (AAIS)
To determine if you fall under one of these categories, please review our eligibility criteria document for international students.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ENROLL IN A COURSE?
The registration fee for summer school is $200 per credit.

COURSE LOAD
Successful international students will commit at least 20 hours per week to complete a 5-credit course, plus submitting assessments. Please take this into consideration when deciding on your course load. There are no extensions for summer courses.
International students may register for a maximum of 5-credits (one core course).
Students must work regularly in their courses, submitting work throughout the summer term and adhere to their provided timelines. Students should not be away for more than 3 days at a time with no more than 6 days away total from the course.
Those looking to withdraw from a course should log-in to SchoolEngage and fill out the Vista Virtual School COURSE WITHDRAWAL Form. Withdrawing from a course does not automatically cancel a diploma exam registration. This must be cancelled directly in myPass.
