Sept 10: Labour Action Updates – Please Read
- The Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) announced this morning that teachers would initiate strike action on October 6, 2025, if a negotiated settlement is not reached. No further details on the nature of the potential strike were given, nor has formal legal strike notice been provided.
- As we are an online public school, our teachers are members of the ATA, which means we are subject to the same job action as all other schools across the province.
- We will share updates with families/students as more information becomes available if a strike does occur. We appreciate your patience during this time.
Our registration forms and inquiries are handled by real people who personally review every submission. Because of this, it may take a little longer to respond during peak registration periods, and we sincerely thank you for your patience.

Deadline to register for Semester 1 – Primary, and Non-primary students: September 19, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. MDT. Late registrations will not be processed.
Course Dates
- 2025-2026 Grade 1-9 courses run from August 27 to June 18
- 2025-2026 Semester 1 courses run from August 27 to January 27
*Students enrolled after the course start date must still complete by the end date. As courses are delivered asynchronously, students may begin after the official start date and still complete within the semester timeframe.
REGISTRATION PROCESS
Follow the registration instructions below based on whether you are a current, new, or past student.
CURRENT or RETURNING students who were registered with VVS during the 2024-25 regular school year or 2025 summer school will register through SchoolEngage using the existing parent, guardian, or student (if 18+ or living independently) account from your previous registration.
NEW students who have not yet registered with Pembina Hills School Division (PHSD) or Vista Virtual School (VVS) must first create a PHSD SchoolEngage account to access registration forms. The account must belong to a parent or legal guardian. Only students 18+ or living independently may create their own account.
PAST students who were most recently registered with VVS prior to the 2024/2025 school year must first create a PHSD SchoolEngage account to access registration forms. The account must belong to a parent or legal guardian. Only students 18+ or living independently may create their own account.

Important Notice! Vista Virtual School registration forms cannot be accessed through another school division’s SchoolEngage or PowerSchool account (CBE, Rockyview, etc). Please follow the instructions below to register with Pembina Hills School Division (PHSD).
Create a SchoolEngage Account
Do not create a new SchoolEngage account if one was previously set up for a PHSD or VVS parent or student. Proceed to Register through SchoolEngage.
1. Create a PHSD SchoolEngage Account
The SchoolEngage account must be created by the student’s parent or legal guardian unless the student is 18 years of age or older, or an independent student (ages 16-17 and does not live with a parent or legal guardian).
- Students under 18: Enter the PARENT or GUARDIAN name and contact information for the SchoolEngage account
- Students 18 and older or independent: Enter the STUDENT name and contact information for the SchoolEngage account
2. Activate the Account
After you finish registering, you will receive a confirmation message and an activation email. To verify your account, simply click the link in the email.
3. Add Student
Once you are logged into SchoolEngage, click “Add Student” on the left side. A parent account can add multiple students.

Register through SchoolEngage
Registration forms are accessed through a PHSD SchoolEngage account. We recommend completing registration forms on a desktop computer or a laptop.
Grade 1-9 Students
1. Log-in to SchoolEngage
The PARENT/GUARDIAN will log into their PHSD SchoolEngage account.
2. Click on the Student’s Name
Once logged in, click on “Students,” then select the student’s name.
3. Complete a Registration Form
The VVS 25-26 Elementary and Junior High Student Registration Form (Grades 1-9) will appear under the student’s name. Please fill it out completely with all required information. You must submit this form to apply for the 2025/2026 school year.
You will be asked to upload: citizenship documentation, a report card from the previous school year, and, if applicable, a current instructional support plan (ISP) or medical documentation for accommodations.
Grade 10-12 Students, including Adult Upgrading
1. Log-in to SchoolEngage
The parent, guardian, or student (if 18+ or living independently) will log into their PHSD SchoolEngage account.
2. Click on the Student’s Name
Once logged in, click on “Students,” then select the student’s name.
3. Complete the Intake Form
Complete the Vista Virtual School: Grades 10-12 Student Intake Form to determine which registration form applies to your student type.
4. Complete the Registration Form
The VVS 2025-2026 Registration Form (Gr. 10-12) – Semester 1 will appear under the student’s name. Please fill it out completely with all required information. You must submit this form to apply for the 2025/2026 school year.
You will be asked to upload: citizenship documentation, prerequisite course marks (official final mark required), and, if applicable, a current instructional support plan (ISP) or medical documentation for accommodations.

How do I make a change to my SchoolEngage account? If you require changes to an existing SchoolEngage account, or need a new SchoolEngage account for an existing student, email us at vvsupport@pembinahills.ca. Please do not create another SchoolEngage account if one was previously set up or add a student that already exists.
How do I make a change on my registration form? If you need to make a change to a registration form that you have already submitted, please reach out to us at vvsupport@pembinahills.ca for assistance. Please do not create a new SchoolEngage account or submit another registration form.
Can I register after the semester start date? Yes, but you will have less time in the course, as all students must complete their coursework by the semester’s end date. If a student registers late, we recommend that they speak with their teacher regarding their timeline and how they can catch up in the course.
When will I get access to my course content? VVS Staff review each registration form. During peak periods, please allow up to three weeks for processing. Once approved, you will receive an email with instructions on how to make a payment, and then a confirmation email with instructions for logging in. Students enrolled before the semester start date will see their courses in Moodle starting on the first day of the semester. Students enrolled on or after the semester start date will see their courses within 24 hours of enrollment.
How do I add, switch or withdraw from my courses? If your registration form hasn’t been processed yet, please email vvsupport@pembinahills.ca with your request. If you want change your courses after you are enrolled, log-in to SchoolEngage. Click on your student’s name and complete the available Course Addition/Switch/Withdrawal Form.
NOTE: Changes to submitted course and material requests may result in a later course start date and less time to complete the course by the semester deadline. There is a $25 course switch fee each time a request to change courses is submitted.
